Medications

Did you know that 1 in 4 people over the age of 65 will fall at least once during the next 12 months?

Falls are preventable. Act now!

Did you know that some medicines may increase the risk of a fall injury? These include some anxiety, depression and sleeping medication.

Take simple steps to ensure medicines don't trip you up!

  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about having a Home Medicines Review (additional information can be found in the Helpful Resources section below).
  • Record all your medications on a Medicine Record Card (see below to download) and always take it with you to doctor's appointments
  • Ask about the side effects of the medicines you are on
  • Use a pill organiser to avoid confusion
  • Do not take anyone else's prescribed medicine
  • Do not use out of date medicines. Return them to your pharmacist for safe disposal
